Welcome to Funkdubie.com - The Ongoing Journey

It's a Jeep thing, you wouldn't understand...

Some people like trucks. Some people like Hummers. Some people like Land Rovers. To each their own, right? Our family? We prefer JEEP. Not to discredit all of those other vehicles, but not many can boast running MOAB straight off the show-room floor. Our Jeep, however, can. In 2005 we traded in the Mustang for a 2005 Wranger Rubicon Unlimited. Most people wouldn't risk putting a brand new vehcile in any type of jeopary. Maybe we're brave or maybe we're stupid (fine line, eh?) but we had ours off road within 24 hours. Not just mildly offroad, like a field, either. We had ours hood-deep in mud and muck on top of Aenta Mountain, a favorite offroading spectacular in Southeastern Tennessee. That was the start of this journey, which is ongoing every weekend... we hope you'll enjoy the scenery, the tales, and the ride as much as we do.

A brief offroad history:

When it comes to offroading, we're getting more brave every time our tires hit the rocks. The Jeep has done nothing but astound us time and time again. On Aetna Mtn. we easily kept pace with the built-from-the-ground-up rock crawlers and uber-specs 4x4s. On Prentice Cooper WMA we have the pleasure of quads sidetracking rocks they can't handle only to see them park at the top and watch our approach. In Tellico... well, we haven't braved MUCH of Tellico yet. That's still on the books, waiting for a couple long-arm kits and lift kits and such... We try to take pictures wherever we go, when we remember the camera anyhow, so peruse through and see if you want to buy your own and join us!

Tales by the Campfire...

Our other new pasttime is camping. Granted, it might be a little more tough now that we sold the Silverado and got the Charger... but hey, gas isn't exactly cheap these days! However camping has become one of our favorite pasttimes and we all enjoy the comraderie, the food, the fun, and the FIRES! <grin> We've included pictures from a couple of our camping trips, including the late-April trip to Fall Creek Falls State Forest where we incurred an inch of snowfall (unexpected!) overnight. It was cold, miserable, and we all LOVED it.
